Forestry in Kananaskis has a tradition of sustainability

There’s a lot of conversation right now about forest harvesting in southern Alberta, specifically in the Upper Highwood region of ...
Congratulations to long-time AFPA member Millar Western for planting their 200 millionth tree! A large crowd of community members, elected officials, and of course, the hardworking employees who make it all happen braved a cold, rainy Alberta day to mark the occasion with a ceremonial tree plant. Speaking at the event, company Chair Mac Millar summed up Millar Western’s commitment to sustainability:
“We all know that the trees we plant today, we are planting for someone else. The four million seedlings we planted this summer will belong to another generation’s future. And that’s okay – that’s how it should be.”
Millar Western has been operating for 110 years, including a continuous presence in Whitecourt for the past 90 years.
