To celebrate the dedication of our industry and our collective love for Alberta forests, the Alberta Forest Products Association (AFPA), will be hosting a raffle

The prize? Be entered into a draw for a chance to win a $200 Mountain Equipment Co-op (MEC) or Marks Work Warehouse gift card (choice between the two) and a Love AB Forests merch item of your choosing.

What is the Media Catalogue?

The Alberta forest Media Catalogue is an extensive digital archive that houses a wide range of media related to Alberta’s forests and forestry sector. This includes photos, videos, audio files, documents, and more. The catalogue is designed to be a central repository where members can easily upload, tag, share, and search for forestry-related media.

What’s in it for you?

Each piece of content you upload to the Media Catalogue will earn you one entry into the raffle. The more you upload, the more likely you are to win. It’s in your hands!

How to Participate?

Access the Media Catalogue:

Visit the AFPA website and click on Media Catalogue in top corner of our website.

Create an account or log in with existing credentials.

Matt Fisher from Silvacom has kindly created a comprehensive training video to help you get started. It covers basic operations like uploading, tagging, and searching content.

Upload Your Content:

Click on your username at the top right and select “Media” followed by “Upload Media.”

Drag and drop your files or browse to select them. The platform supports a wide range of file types, including images, audios, video, PDFs, and zip files.

Confirm you have permission to publish and share the media. You can choose to keep it private or make it public.

Fill in the details for each piece of media, such as title, description, tags, and location. These details help make your content searchable.

Set Permissions and Copyright:

Decide who can access your media (e.g., only AFPA members or the public).

Set the copyright permissions (e.g., free for use, personal/academic use, or with attribution).

Publish Your Content:

Review your entries and hit “Publish.” Your uploaded media will be available under “My Media,” where you can view all your contributions.

This platform serves as a year-round resource for our forestry community. Through this platform, we can share our love for forestry and the forests that we cherish. Whether it’s showcasing your work, celebrating nature, or sharing experiences, the Media Catalogue is here for you anytime.
